Barbara Ann Boxleitner, of Willow Street, PA passed away peacefully of natural causes Saturday, May 4, 2024. She was 83 and one of the Christian faith. Born in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Alan and Elizabeth (Fickes) Stallings, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage to her late husband Arthur W. Boxleitner, Jr.
Barbara and her family also lived in Fort Lauderdale, FL during her mid-teen years before settling in Lancaster, PA in 1956. She was a 1958 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. As a young adult, she worked as a librarian at the Lancaster Theological Seminary.
In 1961, she married Arthur, and together they started an epic journey of raising five children. Their house in Willow Street was a common hub for many kids in the neighborhood. It was the go-to place to have fun, get dirty, share stories, have a meal, and learn about life.
In her adult life, she served the Lord in ministry. First, with post-high school adults through Bethany Presbyterian Church, then in women's ministry through her home church, the Worship Center. Of her many attributes, she was always available, easy to talk to, and offered comforting but truthful advice. She was the kind of person you could call in the middle of the night about anything. When asked in her final days what she wished to be remembered for, Barbara said, "that I loved the Lord."
Barbara is survived by a brother, John Shaub Stallings, of Lancaster, three sons: Jon Arthur Boxleitner, of Lancaster, Andrew, husband of Rebecca Boxleitner of Millersville, Erik Boxleitner of Surfside Beach, SC, a daughter, Joy Elizabeth Craun of Lancaster. She was also survived by seven "grand-gifts" as she called them: Bailey (Boxleitner) DeLeon, Alexander Boxleitner, Mercy (Boxleitner) Nelson, Autumn Bradley, Isaak Boxleitner, Jordan Boxleitner, and Jonas Boxleitner, and one "great grand-gift" on the way. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Adam William Boxleitner, and a brother, Robert Alan Stallings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara's Funeral Service at The Groffs Family Funeral Home, 528 W. Orange Street, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. and Mrs. Donald and Doris Neff co-officiating.
