Rainbow is set to close its downtown Lancaster store sometime in May, following the conclusion of a liquidation sale.

The Rainbow store in downtown Lancaster is conducting a liquidation sale and will likely close by the middle of May.

The women’s and children’s clothing boutique at 29-41 N. Queen St. sells a variety of moderately priced clothing and accessories. It opened in 2011, replacing variety store Valu-Plus.

Based in Brooklyn, Rainbow has some 1,300 stores in the United States, including another Lancaster County location at Manor Shopping Center along Millersville Pike in Lancaster Township.

No one from Rainbow returned a message left seeking comment on the Queen Street store’s closure.

A store employee said the Queen Street store would close once enough merchandise had been sold, which he estimated would be in mid-May.
