2024 L-L League Boys Singles Championships

Zachary Keiper of Ephrata keeps his eyes on the shot from Cooper Lehman of Hempfield in the L-L League Class 3A boys singles tennis championship finals at Conestoga Valley High School in Lancaster on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Three Lancaster-Lebanon League players will be in today’s Class 3A semifinals at the District Three Boys Tennis Championships.

Two-time champion and No. 1 seed Cooper Lehman of Hempfield is one of the three, who are guaranteed spots in the PIAA Championships in two weeks. Lehman won his first-round match 6-0, 6-2 over Central Dauphin’s Robert Eiswert Friday at Hershey Racquet Club, then lost just one game in a semifinal victory over Daniel Boone’s Steve Shenk.

Lehman will be matched up against his L-L League championship match opponent from Monday, Zach Keiper of Ephrata.

Keiper, the No. 4 seed, won his opening match 6-2, 6-4 over Sam Horn of Dallastown, then breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Reading’s Zach Schrader in the semifinals .

Lehman, a junior, defeated Keiper, a freshman, 6-4, 6-1 in the L-L final. Their match today will start at noon at HRC, an hour earlier than originally scheduled.

The third L-L Class 3A player in the semifinals is Viseth Meng. The Cedar Crest junior had the most exciting match for the L-L players.

The unseeded Meng lost just one game in winning his first-round match, then gutted out a win after losing the first set 6-1 to third-seeded Ross Kluger of Cumberland Valley. He won the next two sets 6-4, 6-4.

Meng faces second-seeded Hayden Koons of Dallastown in today’s other 3A semifinal.

Koons, last year’s runner-up to Lehman, lost just five games in his two matches Friday

One of Koons’ wins was 6-2, 6-0 over Meng’s teammate, Joe Shkreli, in the quarterfinals. Shkreli won his opener 6-1, 7-6 over Wilson’s Austin Kohler.

In addition to losing to Meng in three sets, Kluger also had a tough one in the first round. There, he outlasted Ephrata’s Lance Wilson 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.

Only one L-L player remains alive in Class 2A, and that is top-seeded Michael Georgelis of Lancaster Country Day.

Georgelis had no trouble in winning both his matches in shutout fashion. The junior, who didn’t play district singles last year, but won the 2A doubles title, is scheduled to face fourth-seeded Dylan Bonds of Twin Valley in one of today’s 2A semifinals, at 1 p.m. at HRC.

Georgelis beat Berks Catholic’s Alex Avram in the first round and brother Gavin Georgelis in the quarterfinals.

Two of Georgelis’ LCD teammates won first-round matches: Gavin Georgelis and Carson Weigle, both in straight sets.

Weigle fell 6-0, 6-0 to Bonds in the quarterfinals.

Also winning in the first round was Pequea Valley’s Cole Stoltzfus, 6-4, 6-3 to Trinity’s Andrew Tran, before falling in straight sets to Malik.

Finals and third-place matches will be held following the semifinals. In 2A, only three district players move on to the state tournament.
