L-L Boys Bowling Championship

 When: Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m., 1 p.m. both days.

 Where: Leisure Lanes, Mountville.

 Who: 48 individual bowlers — 24 boys (12 from Eastern Regional and 12 from Western) and 24 girls (12 from Eastern Regional and 12 from Western); 24 teams — 12 boys teams (six from Eastern Regional and six from Western) and 12 girls teams (six from Eastern Regional and six from Western).

 Format: Singles (Friday) — Each bowler rolls six games of qualifying in the morning, with the top five advancing to the afternoon stepladder finals, which consist of one game with the winner moving on (third qualifier gets a bye into quarterfinals, second into semifinal and first into final).

Team (Saturday) — Three standard games will be followed by six Baker games of qualifying in the morning. The top four advance to the afternoon stepladder bracket finals, which consist of the best two-out-of-three Baker games, with the second-place team getting a bye into the semifinals and the No. 1 qualifier into the final.

 Lancaster-Lebanon League boys: Gavin Courtney, Garden Spot; Priest McKenzie, Hempfield.

 L-L girls: Eva Brubaker, Penn Manor; Taylor Miller, Warwick.

 L-L boys team: Conestoga Valley, Elizabethtown.

 L-L girls team: Penn Manor.

 Last year’s champions: Boys — Ayden Davis, Antietam. Girls — Rayana Gonzalez, Central Dauphin East. Boys team — Manheim Township. Girls team — Shikellamy.

 Notes: Courtney, a sophomore, and McKenzie, a junior, will be making their first appearance in the state tournament. ... Miller, a junior, is making her third appearance at the state tournament. She placed second in 2022, but fell 70 pins short of the stepladder finals, qualifying in 12th place. ... Brubaker, a senior, is making her second appearance at states after missing the stepladder finals by one spot and 10 pins last season. ... Brubaker and Miller advanced to states this year after finishing 1-2 in the Eastern Regionals on March 1 at Clearview Lanes. Brubaker defeated Miller 220-196 in the final. ... Miller defeated Gonzalez, last year’s state champion, 245-240 in this year’s Eastern Regional semifinals. ... Conestoga Valley enters the state tournament after winning the Eastern Region boys title. Manheim Township, last year’s state champ, failed to qualify for the Eastern stepladder finals. ... Elizabethtown’s boys were the No. 5 qualifier in the Eastern Regional, losing in the quarterfinals. ... Penn Manor’s girls return for a third straight year after finishing second a year ago. The Comets, who reached the semifinals in 2022, lost 2-0 to Shikellamy, the same team they lost to in the Eastern Regional. Penn Manor qualified sixth at regionals this year and lost its quarterfinal match.
