USGA inspection of Lancaster Country Club

Shannon Rouillard, Senior Director of Championships for the United States Golf Association, was at Lancaster Country Club to consider and discuss ongoing changes to the course in preparation for the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open Tuesday Oct. 24, 2023.

This year’s United States Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club will be the highest-paying event in the history of women’s golf, the USGA announced Thursday.

The purse will be $12 million, funded in part by a partnership with Ally Financial Inc., an online banking firm, which will make Ally a presenting partner for the USWO.

The previous record for a women's golf tournament was $11 million for last year’s Women’s Open at Pebble Beach and the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s CME Group Tour Championship, played last November.

The first USWO held at Lancaster in 2015 still holds the event’s attendance record with more than 134,000 spectators. The 2023 Open had the highest attendance since then, the highest broadcast viewership since 2014 and was the most-streamed women’s golf event in broadcast partner NBC Sports’ history.

The winner’s share of this year’s purse has not been determined. Individual payouts are typically released closer to the event. Last year’s champion, Allisen Corpuz, made $2 million.

This year’s Open will be played May 30-June 2.
