A new Jimmy John’s sandwich shop has opened in a Route 30 shopping center in East Lampeter Township.
The franchise restaurant takes a 2,000-square-foot space across from the Shops at Rockvale at 2495 Lincoln Highway East. A drive-thru lane was added to the restaurant, which occupies an end spot in the Lincoln Square shopping center, previously Quality Center.
The Jimmy John’s takes a spot near Chick-fil-A that previously was the home of Bob’s Barbecue and Dickey’s BBQ Pit.
The new Jimmy John’s is owned by Maxwell Fulton, who has nine Jimmy John’s locations in the Baltimore area and now two in Pennsylvania. Fulton said he hopes to add more Jimmy John’s locations soon in Lancaster County, saying he prefers spots outside of Lancaster city where he can have a drive-thru lane.
In Lancaster County, there is currently one Jimmy John’s restaurant in Manheim Township, although several locations closed in recent years, including one in downtown Lancaster.
Jimmy John’s features 17 sub and club sandwiches and emphasizes what it calls its “freaky fast” service. The original Jimmy John’s was opened in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud and has been expanding rapidly in the last several years. With headquarters in Champaign, Illinois, the chain now has some 2,700 U.S. locations.
Jimmy John’s parent company Inspire Brands also owns Arby’s, Sonic, Dunkin’, Buffalo Wild Wings and Baskin-Robbins.
