New York Times bestselling author Adam Higginbotham appears this week at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg to talk about his latest book "Challenger: A True Story of Heroism and Disaster on the Edge of Space"

New York Times bestselling author Adam Higginbotham will make an appearance in Harrisburg this Thursday to discuss, and sign copies of, his latest book "Challenger: A True Story of Heroism and Disaster on the Edge of Space."

"An Evening with Adam Higginbotham" takes place at Midtown Scholar Bookstore at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9. The hourlong event is free and open to the public.

Adam Higginbotham Challenger book

With his latest book, Higginbotham, author of the New York Times bestseller "Midnight in Chernobyl," explores another disaster imprinted on the world's psyche as he takes readers through a minute-by-minute account of the Challenger space shuttle disaster. 

Through extensive archival research and in-depth reporting, Higginbotham explores the events that led up to the Challenger breaking apart over the Atlantic Ocean just 73 seconds into its Jan. 28, 1986, flight. All seven crew members aboard the Challenger died during the disaster.

Higginbotham details the lives of the crew members, the history of the space shuttle program and the aftermath of the disaster in thrilling and insightful prose.
