Two of the three Lancaster-Lebanon League girls basketball coaching vacancies have been filled, with Donegal and Warwick recently welcoming new skippers.
Alex (Stam) Long, at Donegal, and Erica Lausch, at Warwick, have gained school board approval, and they’re settling in with their new teams.
Long is back for her second stint as an L-L League coach; she skippered Octorara in the 2020-21 season before taking a job — and an assistant coaching gig — at Donegal. She succeeds Matthew Werner. The Indians were 11-70 over the last five seasons under his watch.
Long is a Cardinal O’Hara grad and she played basketball for Millersville University. She served as an assistant coach at MU and at Virginia-Wade before moving on to Octorara and Donegal.
Lausch is an Ephrata grad, and she was a multi-sport athlete for the Mountaineers during her high school playing days. She has been serving as Bill Moore’s assistant coach for Conestoga Valley.
Lausch, who has also coached in the Lancaster Splash AAU system, succeeds Danny Cieniewicz at Warwick. The Warriors went 55-71 under his watch over the last six seasons.
Columbia is in the process of replacing Karl Kreiser, who retired after this past season. He led the Crimson Tide’s girls program to 284 victories.
