The Rapho Township teenager killed in a hit and run last week will be remembered as someone who was active in his church and community.
Curtis Groff, 16, died Thursday night after a vehicle struck him while he was working in 200 block of Sun Hill Road in Penn Township, just south of Manheim Borough, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional police.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene before police arrived. Investigators identified Mikayla Victoria Mustard, 23, of Harrisburg, as the driver on Wednesday.
The Lancaster County Coroner said Groff died of multiple traumatic injuries from being struck by a vehicle and ruled the death accidental Wednesday.
According to his obituary, Curtis was a member of White Oak Church in Penn Township, where he served as a youth group leader. He was a member of Manheim Area Christian Home School Co-Op and played on the Spartans Homeschool Volleyball Team and the White Oak Gray softball team.
He had two jobs in the area, at Buck’s Lawn Care Service of Lititz and Westview Enterprises of Manheim, according to his obituary. He was an active teenager who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowboarding and riding dirt bikes.
White Oak Church, at 1211 N. Penryn Road, will hold a memorial service May 11 for family and friends on what would have been Curtis' 17th birthday, according to his obituary.
