Larry Eckenrode Hammond, 80, of Lancaster, PA died on May 3, 2024. He was born in Lancaster in 1943 to the late George and Harriet Hammond, the third of four sons.
He attended Manheim Township High School before majoring in Business and Finance at American University in Washington DC. After graduating Larry joined the United States Navy and was honorable discharged. He went on to work for Lancaster County Farmers National Bank, Wells Fargo, as their Procurement Manager. After retiring early, he worked as a day trader and eventually finished his career with QVC.
Larry always liked trains and studied railroad systems throughout the world. He was particularly fascinated by the advanced high speed urban systems.
Larry is survived by brothers, George (Nancy) Hammond III of Inverness, Illinois and Philip E Hammond of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John William Hammond.
A Prayer Service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. on Saturday May 11 at 2:00 PM followed by interment at Woodward Hill Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM at the funeral home on Saturday.
