W. Ray Herr

W. Ray Herr, 89 of Lititz passed away at UPMC Lititz on Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2024. Born in Conestoga, he was the son of the late Lloyd G. and Barbara F. Trissler Herr. Ray was the life partner to Roberta S. Oehme for over 48 years.

Ray worked in the landscaping field the majority of his life. He worked for many years with Erb Brothers Landscaping. He was a life member of Green Hill Sportsmen's Association and attended Colemanville UM Church earlier in life.

Ray was a matter-of-fact guy, who seemed gruff but had a heart of gold. He loved landscaping and being outdoors. He was a NASCAR fan, enjoying Jeff Gordan and most recently Chase Elliott. Ray loved spending time with his cat, Muffin. Ray enjoyed spending time at his place in Blain, Perry County.

Ray will be missed deeply by his dear partner, Roberta S. Oehme of Lititz and her children, Stacy L. Oehme Herr of Lititz and Katrina Oehme Mackey of Leola. He is also survived by his daughter, Diane Coffey of Lititz and his sons, Keith E. Herr of Ephrata, Kerry E., husband of Stacy Herr of Lititz, Randy R., husband of Ming Herr of Lancaster and Christopher T., husband of Delia Herr of Wyomissing. Ray is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Ray's last living sibling, Gladys H. Groff passed away the day after him. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Steven Herr; grandson, Philip Herr; brothers, Franklin, L. Kenneth, J. Abram and Glenn "Bud" Herr and his sisters, Edna Gainer, Alma Herr, Betty Niesen Zerby and Berniece Reitzel Dougherty.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ray's funeral service on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2 PM from the Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 3225 Main Street, Conestoga. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 PM to 2 PM. Interment will be held in the Colemanville UM Church Cemetery, Conestoga.
