Rock Lititz paid $4.59 million for nearly all of the High Sports complex, according to Lancaster County property records available Thursday.
Tuesday Rock Lititz announced it had purchased 38.369 acres in Warwick Township but did not disclose the price. The parcel is all but 1 acre of the complex at 727 Furnace Hills Pike.
In announcing the purchase, Rock Lititz representatives said former property owner Samuel High, 90, will retain a parcel that includes a car wash and spring water vending system, which will continue to be open to the public. Tokens for the batting cages and driving range, which ceased operations on Monday, will be honored at the car wash.
Calls and messages left at the complex phone number were not answered.
High Sports posted on its Facebook page a picture of a closed sign and a message to its patrons, “Well it is official. High Sports has closed and everything is sold. Thank you everyone that has been part of this journey. We are unsure what the new owners are going to do that will be up to them to announce.”
The High Sports complex property is zoned commercial and industrial.
Rock Lititz President & CEO Andrea Shirk said on Tuesday that Rock Lititz has no immediate plans for its use of the property, which is on the side opposite of Rock Lititz on Furnace Hills Pike north of East Newport Road, less than a mile from Rock Lititz.
“We will explore the possibilities of how best to complement our 108-acre campus of businesses, education facility and rehearsal studios that support the live event industry,” Shirk said.
