Thomas Edward Irwin

Thomas Edward Irwin, 76, was charged April 24 with eight offenses including indecent assault.

A former Manheim Township man already serving 10 to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting three girls has been charged with assaulting a fourth girl.

Police charged Thomas Edward Irwin, 76, on April 24 with eight offenses including indecent assault.

The charges were filed several weeks after a girl told police that Irwin sexually abused her from 2016 to 2018 when she was in second and third grade, according to charging documents.

The girl said Irwin showed her pornography and talked about doing sexual acts several times, charging documents said. The child also reported that Irwin made her touch him inappropriately.

When police interviewed Irwin about the child’s testimony, Irwin told police that he believes that “little girls have a ‘proclivity’ towards how things work sexually,” charging documents said. Irwin denied having sexual interactions with the child.

In 2019, Irwin pleaded guilty to child rape and related offenses for sexually abusing a girl for four years, starting when she was 8 years old in2013. He was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison.

In 2022, Irwin pleaded guilty to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and related charges stemming from inappropriate contact with two girls, one in Manheim Township and one in Marietta. He was sentenced to a total of 10 to 20 years in prison, which is being served at the same time as his 2019 plea and sentence.

Irwin didn’t have an attorney listed in court documents Tuesday. He is serving his sentences at the State Correctional Institution in Benner Township, near State College.
