The USA Women's field hockey team is returning to the Olympics. The U.S.  team beat Japan 2-1 in the semifinal of a last-chance-qualifying tournament in Ranchi, India to earn their spot in the 2024 Summer Games.

The Americans rallied for the win scoring two fourth-quarter goals after falling behind early in the third quarter, as reported at USAfieldhockey.com.

Three member of the U.S team are graduates of Lancaster County schools. For Jillian Wolgemuth, a Manheim Central alum, the game vs. Japan was her 50th appearance with the USA team. Wolgemuth graduated from Duke in 2020.

Sisters Brooke and Emma DeBerdine, both Penn Manor and Maryland graduates, also played for Team USA in the semifinal contest. For Brooke, it was her 36th cap with the U.S squad. For Emma, who started the game, it was her 28th.

The U.S team will now participate in the 12-team tournament at the Paris Games this summer after missing out on the Tokyo Olympics.

The U.S. will play the winner of the India-Germany semi in the tournament final 9 a.m. Friday. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and, for a fee, on watch.hockey.
